Why does the ocean feel good?

It’s no secret that Australians love spending time at the beach soaking up the sun, surf and sand. It’s one of our favourite ways to relax and as it turns out, it’s also great for your health. We don’t really need any more excuses to head to the beach, but if you do need a gentle push to prioritise the time spent there, here are some very valid reasons.

Research has found that just being near the water can release feel-good hormones that send signals to our brain, helping us relax. It’s also been found that there’s a connection between the colour Blue and its ability to create a sense of calm and peacefulness. So, by just staring into that shimmering Azure pool of water you are already reaping the health benefits. Let’s also consider the waves crashing onto the shore, the rhythm of the ebb and flow of the ocean promotes relaxation and slows down our thoughts, this rhythm can also alter the frequency of your brainwaves to match the tempo of the sea.

Feeling inspired to head to your nearest beach? I know we are.

We started The Beach People wanting it to be more than just creating luxury seaside essentials. Our towels are designed with your seaside days in mind; from the amount of water they absorb, how well they wash and the velour finish that makes them comfortable for lounging in the sun, we have carefully put a lot of thought and consideration into our pieces and how they are crafted. So we find it incredibly rewarding when we see you using our pieces exactly as we intended, by the sea.
