Our Charity Partnership with Fingal Headland Coastcare

Our Original Jute Bag is one of our core seaside essentials that’s been part of our collection since the very beginning of The Beach People. We are so proud to introduce this timeless and versatile carry-all, reimagined in a new print. Our Paper Daisy Jute was inspired by the paper daisy, a beautiful Australian flower that is native to one of our most treasured local beaches, Fingal Headland, NSW. This exclusive design was created in collaboration with a charity that is close to our hearts, the Fingal Headland Coastcare.

This beautiful charity is made up of a small team of local, passionate volunteers who have dedicated many years to protecting and restoring the area. The breathtaking Fingal Headland is suffering from severe erosion and gullying, dehydration of native grassland, increasing visitor numbers, invasion of foreign plant species and lack of formal pathways and viewing areas. The Coastcare team are working to repair eroded areas, restore and protect native grassland, protect significant Aboriginal and European heritage sites, and limit the impact of visitors by constructing pathways and viewing platforms, all with the help of donations and support from the community.

Our Australian team were fortunate enough to spend a morning with the Fingal Headland Coastcare team to understand more about their endeavours and lend a helping hand. Together our Co-Founders, Emma and Victoria, along with their children, and the rest of our team, were given a tour of the nursery where they grow and rejuvenate native plants and grassland, before venturing up to the headland to remove unwanted weeds and plants. Finally, the team collected dry paper daisies and scattered the seeds, which then encourages new flowers to grow.

We are so proud to be working alongside this beautiful charity and invite you to be part of this journey with us. $5 from every Paper Daisy Jute Bag purchase will be donated to the Fingal Headland Coastcare to assist with their ongoing endeavours. We are so grateful for your support and can’t wait to share more of our charity efforts with you in the future.
