An Exclusive Tour of the Home from our Porto Bath Campaign Shoot

When it came time to plan the campaign shoot for our new Porto Bath collection, we knew it was crucial to find a breathtaking bathroom that complemented the range. We wanted soft, earthy tones, raw textures and beautiful, natural light. It’s safe to say that when we discovered Arcos Villa, we knew we’d found the one. Located in Paddington, Brisbane, this stunning home perfectly fuses luxury with European details, whilst maintaining the property’s original charm. We sat down with the owners, Meghan and Rob Gray, to find out what inspired the design, and their best building and renovating tips…

Hi Rob and Meghan, thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us. We are in awe of your beautiful home and absolutely loved shooting there. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind it?

Thank you! We wanted a home that felt like we were at an international hotel, a home away from home. We wanted it to be Mediterranean inspired mixed with a traditional Queenslander.

Was it a renovation or new build and how long did the process take?

It was a renovation and extension – we lifted the house that was here previously, and extended on it significantly. The entire process took approximately 12 months.

What’s your favourite room in the house?

The sunken lounge – it’s a really social area and we love watching the popup tv, with the house and staircase in the background. It gives you the best views of the house.

What feeling did you want the house to evoke when you walk in?

We wanted to feel as though we were on a permanent holiday – a Mediterranean home in Brisbane.

Is this your forever home? What was the purpose of the build?

Definitely our forever home. We designed the home to suit us not only now, but in 10 years time.

Finally, what’s your best piece of advice for fellow readers who are building or renovating?

Our biggest tip – leave yourself as much time to plan all of your decisions ahead of time, try not to do things on the fly - that’s where mistakes happen and things get costly. Don’t other think every decision.
