Introducing our first Beach Umbrella
You asked, we listened! After over three years of thoughtful design, we couldn’t be more excited to introduce our first Beach Umbrella. Featuring a one-of-a-kind large plantation style canopy to provide shade for the whole family, in five beautiful colour ways. Find out what inspired the design and where our Founders will be using their umbrellas this summer…
What made you want to design your own beach umbrella?
Emma - Since we launched The Beach People in 2013 people have been asking us to design a beach umbrella. It just makes sense! So we started straight away, dreaming and designing. We are so proud of our umbrella - it's unique shape, the beautiful colours and quality are perfection.
Victoria - We love staying at the beach all day and that means we need shade! We have been working on a beach umbrella since we started The Beach People... we didn’t realise engineering your own shape would take so long!
How did you come up with the design?
Victoria - I saw a plantation style shaped umbrella in an old Slim Aarons image... it was in this incredible home. From there we figured out how to make the shape strong with the curved top, then added in our colours and tassels.
Emma - We wanted to do something a little different. As Vic mentioned we have always loved the plantation style canopy inspired by an old Slim Aarons image. I really love the colour palette we have selected for the umbrellas. Solid colours so they go with any printed beach towel/seaside set up.
What makes it different to the other beach umbrellas out there?
Emma - It’s a great size - it fits my party of 5 under it. It's built solid not flimsy, or in offensive primary colours like many other beach umbrellas out there haha. It will last you for many, many summers to come.
Victoria - The shape, size and neutral tones.
Which colour is your favourite and how will you be styling it for your family beach days?
Victoria - The navy... I love masculine bold colours. I’ll be popping it up and pulling the matching beach cart under it as a portable beach cot for my new born baby girl!
Emma - I love the stone umbrella, stone beach cart and picnic basket packed with cool water and fresh fruit, and I’ll be using cream and apricot pool towels for my seaside set up.
Where will you be taking your beach umbrella this summer?
Emma - There are so many great spots around our area… I’ve been loving Pottsville creek or Cabarita Beach, there are so many rock pools for the girls to play and explore in.
Victoria - Home! Cudgen Creek in Kingscliff, for life!
