The Beach People chats with Magdalena Roze on motherhood, favourite foods & what's next

Shot 23-100.jpg

We first met Magdalena through mutual friends at The Farm in 2015 while she was pregnant with Archie.

Mag’s had just made the big move from Sydney to Byron and after chatting over coffee and croissants we instantly bonded over a love of family and food.

Most Fridays, we bump into each other at the Mullumbimby Markets while stocking up on fresh local organic produce, ferments, cheeses and general yumminess.

When we designed our Linen Table Wear, we instantly thought of Mags and her delish cook book “Happy and Whole”.

What better way to finish a day shooting our Bedouin Journey Campaign, than to have Mags stop by and have a picnic on the beach at sundown.

Fire lit, Strawberry and Ginger Kombucha in hand, the good vibes were strong! Feasting on Soba Noodle salad with wakame and miso-poached chicken (a food revolution) & Broccoli Slaw our hearts and tummies were full!

To recreate the day in your own home view recipes here or learn a little more about Mags below.

Favourite ice cream flavour?
Cookies and cream

Coffee or tea?
Flat white in the morning and camomile tea before bed but if I had to choose it’s coffee #mumlife

Acai or big brekkie?
Big brekkie as I love eggs and all the bits and pieces like spinach and mushroom

Dark or Milk Chocolate?
Dark

Red or White Wine?
I love a glass of red once the baby goes down!

Almond or Plain Croissant?
Almond all the way

Favourite Veggie and why?
The boring old cabbage because I can’t live without without sauerkraut. I grew up on it!

What’s your cupboard staple and can’t live without ingredient?
Cupboard staple is caned tomatoes and I can’t live without garlic

What you wish you told yourself before you became a mother?
Enjoy freedom to whatever the heck you want whenever you want, and being on your own especially on planes!

We know you live between Sydney & Byron Bay, what are your favourite things about both cities?
I love the nature, peace, incredible produce, wellness lifestyle, beaches and community in Byron Bay. Oh, and no peak hour traffic! My favourite things about Sydney are the restaurants and culture. There’s so much great theatre, art, festivals and fashion.

What’s next?
Working on season two on my food podcast “The Pass”, getting back into some more TV, pondering a second cookbook focused on whole foods for children, sinking my teeth into some cool creative projects- and all the mayhem that comes with being a chef’s partner and mother! Hopefully some travel too!

We love entertaining, cooking and baking meals to share with our loved ones.
