DIY Holiday Wreath
We love the festive spirit that a Christmas wreath brings to the home. It’s such a beautiful and impactful piece to style at the entrance to your home to welcome the holiday season. As always, we like to keep our aesthetic neutral, with a subtle nod to coastal, incorporating timeless colours and elements inspired by nature. We teamed up with our beloved local Florist, Flower Bar Co, to create our very own Christmas wreaths with everlasting flowers, which means they can be used year after year. Follow this simple, step-by-step DIY guide to create your own wreath at home…
DIY Dried Flower Wreath
What you’ll need:
Natural vine wreath base
Sharp scissors
Green floristry wire
Ribbon to hang (if not being hung directly on a hook)
Flowers used:
Preserved white hydrangea
Preserved dyed orange rice flower
Preserved white asparagus fern
Preserved white strawflower
How to make it:
Start by looking at the base of the wreath and deciding how it will hang i.e what will be the top.
2. Use the asparagus fern to create a shape in one, two or three sections around the vine base. Use the green floristry wire to attach this to the wreath. You can be as wild or controlled as you like! It works well to make it a little asymmetric with this to create interest.
3. Add your hydrangea - this works well grouped in one or two sections.
4. Hold up your wreath to see how it is looking on the wall and decide where you would like the strawflower and rice flower to go. It works well to cover your wires from the other flowers you’ve attached.
Tips:
Tie the flowers you are attaching into little bunches before attaching to make it easier and quicker to cover sections.
Keep holding up the wreath against a wall to give you a different perspective as you create.
Make sure you use some florals flat against the wreath and some coming forward to create depth and interest.
