Try This Simple & Sustainable DIY Home Hack

Easy DIY food wraps that won’t harm the environment. Perfect for keeping leftovers fresh in the fridge or wrapping up food in the kids’ lunches, instead of using cling wrap or ziplock bags. These where so simple to make that I wondered why I didn’t do it sooner! I used an old cotton shirt and a few old pillowcases to make them, but you can use any old cotton or fabric that you have lying around the house. They will last 4-6 months and them can be disposed of in the compost.

DIY Beeswax Wraps

You will need:

Fabric (whatever size or pattern you like)

Beeswax pellets or a block grated

Zig zag scissors

Oven and tray

How to make them:

1. Heat oven to 180C.

2. Cut fabric to shape - I did three sizes and a circle for the tops of jars.

3. Lay fabric flat on a baking tray, sprinkle beeswax over the fabric so it is fairly covered and bake for 10 mins until wax has melted into fabric.

4. Pick hot fabric up and wave it in the air (should only take a few seconds to become hard and ready for use).

5. To clean wraps, wipe down with warm soapy water.
