Introducing our Kids Beach Toys
Designed for family beach days spent building sand castles and digging for hidden treasure, our new Kids Beach Toys were inspired by our own little sea lovers and a need for eco-friendly beach toys. Made from 40% unbleached compostable bamboo fibre and 60% bio-plastic, these adorable toy sets will not only provide hours of fun for your littlies, they’ll last you season after season. We chat to our Co-Founder, Victoria, to find out what inspired the design and how her family have been using their toys this summer…
What does the set come with?
A bucket, spade, fork and sand scraper which my four year old likes to serve me pretend sand cakes on as it looks a little like a cake server... bliss! Each set also comes with a beautiful bag with a cheeky little sand free panel at the bottom.
How did you come up with the idea to design eco-friendly kids beach toys?
I am at the beach every other day with my family and there are a few things that we always take. Beach Toys are one of them, and the sets that I have had in the past were just so flimsy, they would break easily and I noticed a few times that we would be missing pieces and I have no doubt they would have ended up in the sea. Not cool! Most of my friends have had similar experiences. They were all purchasing cheap and nasty beach toys as an after thought, they weren’t something we cherished. I have since tried to live a little more to the motto buy less and buy quality. Also around five years ago I really started to think about the production of plastics and single use items, and I started to look at every purchase and think ‘is there a better option?’ When it came to kids beach toys I just couldn’t find anything. I was willing to invest in some that would last my family many summers, but there was nothing out there. So ta-dah!
What makes them different to other kids beach toys out there?
The more eco-friendly material, the beautiful pastel colours and the sand-free bag.
Which colour is your favourite and tell us about one of your family summer adventures with your beach toys…
I have the pale blue colour at home and my sweet little four year old turns into a chef when I bring them out. We were down at Yamba for the summer holidays this year and he was offering everyone Christmas cake that he had just made out of sand. So sweet!
