The inspiration behind our must-have Wet Bucket

Here at The Beach People we are all about creating products that are as practical as they are beautiful. Being mums to large, growing families, we know that by the end of a long day at the beach you have a pile of wet togs, sandy toys, and leftover food and drinks. So one day we came up with the idea to reinvent the Wet Bucket. They’ve always been a beach staple for us, but we knew we could make them more aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly. They’re the perfect beach bag to carry all your wet things when you head home from a day by the seaside, and once you’re done you can just hose it out and leave it to dry. Perfect! Find out what inspired the design and how our Co-Founder Victoria has been using hers this summer…

How did the idea for Wet Buckets come about?

Days and days and days of smelly laundry… ha! Kidding, I just found every time I left the beach, pool or creek I always had a pile of wet things in the back of my car or in my beach bag. It was time for us to invent something to accommodate those items.

Tell us about the inspiration behind the design…

We wanted something that was durable, comfortable to carry and aesthetically pleasing. I also wanted something that could be free standing so the wet items wouldn’t spill onto the sand.

What makes them different to other Wet Buckets out there?

They are beautiful and they will last season after season. They are made of EVA which is a safer, more biodegradable material than standard plastic.

Which colour is your favourite and how will you be styling it for your family beach days?

I currently have the olive green and just last week filled it with ice and some beer for my husband’s birthday poolside. Winning!

You’re packing up after a long day at the beach with your family - what’s in your Wet Bucket?

Wetsuits, swimmers, goggles and surf ponchos, and often my actual clothes. Thanks kids!
